Ryan Gruhn gets Mixed Events (MMA & Muay Thai) in the Cage Approved in Pennsylvania
In what will become a historic moment for Muay Thai in the state of Pennsylvania, GFC President; Ryan Gruhn gets mixed events (MMA & Muay Thai) in the cage approved for PA which he announced on Instagram Wednesday afternoon.
“We’ve been working with the PA Athletic Commission and Ed Kunkle for all of our events and we have been heard loud and clear when it comes to the need for mixed events in PA.” said Ryan Gruhn Wednesday morning.
“Events done in other states with this format do every well.” said Ed Kunkle on Wednesday morning.
GFC 8 which is set to take place on June 16th in State College, PA at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center will be the first in the state. Following GFC 8 other promotions will be able to do the same.
“GFC stands for Grappling & Fighting Championships which means we have always wanted to have MMA. We can finally unify the event and do everything in a cage.” Gruhn said.
“Most gyms have Muay Thai and MMA Fighters” GFC General Manager Elise Pone said. Pone herself is a professional MMA fighter and A Class Muay Thai fighter. With 20+ fights herself and being a 7x Muay Thai Champion, she has experience fighting in a cage in both Muay Thai & MMA.”
“Being able to fight in a cage simplifies our setup and will be great to showcase all styles of combat to the community.” Pone said.
June 16th is sure to be an exciting night of fights. “We have 14 bouts planned for the event.” Gruhn said.
